Matriarch Multimedia has moved in to the production studio at IMPACT Studios. Look for Co-Productions between the two companies forthcoming, “The Moor” and “Samantha”, two of IMPACT’s properties. Matriarch provides a television arm complimenting our film department. Looking forward, we will be utilizing the studios as we produce our own Wushu television show. Be sure your resume and photos are updated with Rose.

It has been a very busy summer at NWTC with all levels testing and a successful black belt exam in July. All students have been working diligently in learning their new levels. We will have two more tests and one more black belt exam this year.

STRETCHING:
All students please use the summer to increase your stretching of the ankle, upper back, and hips. The heat of the weather aids stretching beyond your limit.
Toe Point/Ankle Flex: Equally important to push beyond current ability.
Hips: Open and strong. Knee splits and drop stances open and strengthen the groin and hips.
Upper Back: Waist turns and back arch kicks may not be your favorite but are essential for upper level movements. Start early in the learning process diligently improving your backbend.

Dancing With The Stars

Mark Dacascos isn’t one to shy away from a challenge. When he turned 40 he came to the school to film himself doing a back-tuck, one of his “must-do’s”. So, when he got into DAncing With The Stars, it was no surprise that he would meet that challenge too! And, in classic Mark style he’s never dropped out of the top of the list on the leader board. However, with all of his hard work I know he’s doing, He’s going to need us to step up our game and VOTE VOTE VOTE VOTE VOTE every single week. With only a month of competition left, let’s make our VOTES blow up the charts!!!

The Coolest Cat I Know...

Few students spark my imagination as much as my old man, Liang. While learning the international compulsory nanquan he asked if he could try the jumping inside to ground fall, “Just once?” he asked. And what do you think I said...?

Liang, a black belt as of April 2009, still practices twice per week. In September he returned to Indonesia for three weeks and has come back full of vitality and a renewed determination.

And, no, I didn’t let him do it! He said he wants to do a leg lift like the kids, “but I am grateful for doing what I am doing. If I don’t do Wushu, I will become and old man!”

America’s Next Top Model had a photo shoot at IMPACT Studios where their models were lifted in the air thanks to the IMPACT Stunts team. Watch as Coach Debbie and Coach Eric give the girls a crash course in Wushu weaponry before their shoot.

Airs Wednesday night, October 14, 2009 at 8:00 on the CW. (Channel 5 for you locals)

Testing dates for both schools are as follows:

Testing starts at 6:30PM on all testing days. Testing will start at low levels and move up.

There will be no classes on testing days except for the Friday 5:00 youth class in Los Angles.

NWTC I (Huntington Beach)
Wednesday, October 28 , 2009 - Levels 5 and up.
Thursday, October 29, 2009 - Levels 6 and up.
Saturday, October 31, 2009 - All Weapons.

NWTC II (Los Angeles)
Wednesday, October 14, 2009 - All Adults empty hand.
Thursday, October 15, 2009 - All kids empty hand and weapons.
Friday, October 16, 2009 - All adult weapons.
